Westy Weekly 17 Jul 2015

Hello Friends!

The heat is on and the temp is rising! Next week we are going to see some really hot days, so make sure to be safe and drink plenty of water. If you think you’ve had enough, drink more. It is really easy to get dehydrated in these temps, so be safe.

We had a VERY busy week in Jaycees. First was the Car Show last Saturday. This was a wonderful success. We had over 100 cars at our event and got a chance to bring some business to Westland Bowl. Out participants had a great time and I’ve already gotten a lot of feedback for putting on this show again next year! We also raised some money to support our Christmas projects as well as Nothing But Nets. IN all, we should be able to provide a good number of mosquito nets that will go to help save lives.

Tuesday was our Ice Cream Social to help cover the funeral expenses for Eric Stover. We had a great time, had some ice cream, played games, and again raised some needed funds which will be sent to the funeral home as soon as the final numbers are calculated. I would like to thank everyone that came out and supported this event and the family. Id also like to thank Rebecca Markonni for all of her hard work!

Last night was our monthly dinner social and it was a treat! The Jaycees showed up in numbers to Ichiban Japanese Hibachi restaurant in Canton. We got to have some great food, wonderful dinner time entertainment, and great conversation. It was especially good to see some of our Senators, Alumni, and Associates at the event.

Coming Up!

The All American BBQ throw-down is coming up. ON Aug 15th, we will be working hard at the Westland Blues Brews and BBQ this year to host the first BBQ competition. Sarah Austin and team have been working closely with the chamber and city to help put on a wonderful event. We even got a spot in the paper today to help promote the event. If you know someone who fancy’s themselves a good BBQ cook, have them compete at the event.
