We made it to March! While its still not spring out, this sunshine and future forecasts are very encouraging! Pretty soon, we will be able to walk barefoot in the grass and fire up those dormant BBQ grills and bring our backyards to life once again! Im very excited for all of our wonderful summertime activities we have in store for 2015.
I would like to offer my deepest thanks to all of you who helped us move out of the storage facility and into Men on the Move this weekend. We still need to go back and finish the move and clean up a bit, so stay tuned for an appeal for help. Also, again, I would like to give my deepest thanks to Gary Bulson and the Men on the Move organization for their long history and continued support of this organization.
This Tuesday was our monthly membership meeting and thank you all who came. It was a wonderful time to sit and re-cap from Feb Conference and to recognize our award winners as well as our past president #57, Wendy Zografos, who also received a presidential pin for 2015. Congrats to all of you for a job well done. Let’s keep the fire alive as we “Light em up” in 2015! For those of you who still haven’t been able to make a GMM, I encourage you to come out. Its always a good time and the location couldn’t be better. The new Westland City Hall facility is second to none and I couldn’t be more proud.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to accompany Adam Bonarek, IVP to Central America, Fay Poissant Past President JCI USA, Mark Garrison Past President Livonia, and Angela Clock as we played host to Crystal Ramsay Dyess – Past President JCI US and current Director of Field Operations for JCI US as we pitched the Motor City for JCI National Conference in Sep 2016. We went on a wonderful tour of the Ren Cen, then on a guided bus tour of the new Detroit hosted by Jeanette Pierce from the Detroit Experience Factory. It was a very worthwhile experience and I think we made a very positive impression. Judging is being held this Month at the National Conference in Nashville. We are up against Minneapolis for this honor, but I think we are in a good position to win. Also, it would be exactly 50 years since Detroit held this honor last, so how’s that for fate? We shall see!
Don’t Forget, TRU is this Saturday, March 7th and this is our chance to help the Westland Tactical Response Unit raise money. We will be setting up and running a poker event for them this Saturday at the Hellenic Cultural Center on 36375 Joy Rd. Remember that if you are working the event with us, wear a Black or White Button shirt OR your Chapter polo if you have one as well as your name badge. Danny and Mike will be wearing their Vegas Vests. Please remember to go to the Members only page and let Sarah and Amy know when you will be there so we can plan accordingly. If you would like some extra dealer practice (and would like to help load tables) be there by 3PM for setup.
Easter Egg-Stravaganza is rapidly approaching. Tickets are on sale at the Mayor’s Office and the Papa Romano’s on Michigan Ave in Wayne. The event runs from 10AM to 1PM and will be loads of fun. We will have Face Painting, Games, Activities, Egg Hunts, and even some breakfast food! Tickets are $2 for Children and $1 for adults. We will need all hands on deck to make this the best event yet!

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
