Westy Weekly – 3 Jul 2015

Hey All!

What some wonderful weather we are having! I hope you are all enjoying the weather as we head into this holiday weekend. While I’m on call for work, I still plan to get out and have some fun. If you are in the Ann Arbor area this Saturday afternoon, come see yours truly as I march with the Redford Lawn Mower Drill Corps in their 4th of July Parade.

For all those that came out to the Park Clean up, THANK YOU! It was an amazing success. We really managed to make some positive impact in the community and meet some of our local residents. Some even pitched in and helped us. I had a lot of fun and I couldn’t have been more proud of all of you. Some of you really put your all into it! Id also like to send out a special thanks you to Terry and Jessica from the Parks Department who have been so supportive of this project along with Callie Hubbard, who has worked tirelessly over the past few weeks to put this together. For those that had their Shirts ruined, let us know. We will try and get some replacements for you.

The Car Show and the Poker Rooms are right around the corner!

Jul 6-9. For the Poker Room, please check in the sign in sheet on the members only page! We need to make sure the room is manned with no less than three of us at all times. Some last minute changes have been made to the schedule, so please keep up often with the list so we can make sure no shift gets overlooked. This is a big source of funding for our 2015 year. Be sure to wear your chapter shirt and your name badge. For all members that take a daytime shift (noon til 6PM), we will reward your time with $25 for the first shift, and $10 for each successive shift afterwards! If you are not doing anything during the day and can spend some time at the event. This is only open to non board members.

Jul 11 is the CAR SHOW! Are you a car enthusiast or do you know one? Bring them to the car show at Westland Bowl on the 11th. We will have awards and things to do! Registration fee is $5 per car and you get a great spot to look at the cars at the show as well as the cruise. Were also going to have the US Army activity trailer there, so don’t miss out. Its free to non car show participants and you only need the $5 to register your car for the show if you are participating in the car show event itself.

And Finally, the Ice Cream for Eric Fundraiser is on the 14th of Jul. This is a fundraiser to help cover the funeral costs for a local boy who sadly drowned a few weeks ago at a local state park. Adults are $5 and children are $3. We will be hosting the event at the Wayne Ford Civic League beginning at 6pm and running til 9PM. Please come out, bring some friends, and help support this project. Any questions can be directed to VP Rebecca Markonni.VP1@westlandareajaycees.org or go to the website. http://www.westlandareajaycees.org/ice-cream-social-for-eric-stover-jr-july-14h-at-the-wayne-ford-civic-league/
