Westly Weekly Oct. 15th, 2015

Hey Westy!

It’s been two weeks since our last Westy Weekly, but its been very busy as well. Last Thursday, Linda Honey and I were asked to come and speak to the Westland Rotary for a while about the Jaycees, what we are doing, how we have been successful, and update them on our 5K. Then, later that evening, we hosted the League of Women Voters at city hall to moderate the “Meet the Candidates” event. This was  very exciting and the League was rather impressed with our City Hall as well as the professionalism and refreshments provided by the Jaycees. Good job to all that helped to make this a great event. After all of that, we had a good time at Rouge-A-Palooza in Wayne!

This is a Reminder, Elections are OCT 20th at City Hall. 7PM. If you need an absentee Ballot, contact Wendy Zografos right away.

October 25th is the Friendly Monster event. Join us for a friendly, lights on, no monsters walk through Hush Haunted Attraction. Play games outside. Sign up for a pie eating contest and a donuts eating game. Concessions available with minimal cost for cider, donuts, caramel or chocolate apple dippers, and water. This is a great event for all ages!!! We also need help running all of the projects. This is being chaired by Sammy Willingham and Rebecca Markonni, so please get with them for details

The Veterans Day 5K is gaining participants, but it is slow moving. I am told that this is normal, but I don’t want to lift our foot off of the gas. Lets keep pushing to get the word out there. Tell your friends. I challenge every member to get 3 people each to register for the 5K.  We also need help visiting businesses and asking them to promote the event. We have made some significant progress in the area, but there is still much to do, and the event is drawing VERY close. Lets all roll up the sleeves and get this going! We have a great opportunity to help our area Veterans and create a sustaining project for years to come. We need a good start.
