Westy Weekly 4/18/17

Good afternoon Westy!
t’s your Public Relations Liaison April Hendryx. I am coming to you LIVE from my desk. You know the one full of notes and lists and steps to making our upcoming project “Operation Fire-Up!” a success! I am so thankful for this chapters support for this project. I am even more grateful for the connections being made during the process of planning this event. This, like many projects, is a beginning of what we hope to be many in Garden City. I can’t wait to see everyone this weekend! I’ll be making calls soon to start pouring paint in preparation of our many volunteers!
I hope that your Easter weekend was fun and family filled. If you noticed, I was able to get the photo’s from our Egg-Stravaganza uploaded. My apologies again for the delay there. Speaking of our Egg-Stravaganza! Congrats to our Chair-Person DJ Campbell on running a great community event! We are very proud of the work you put into making this project a success. Please also join me in a shout-out to Community VP Beka Beresford for being a great contributor to this event and a great Co-Chair while DJ learned the ropes.

Our Aquarium Trip looks like a lot of fun from the photo’s! Thank you Emily Dreyer for putting together such a fun family event! I love that not only do we get to hang out and just relax, but as a group we can do those things with our kids at a discount! 😉 Just another Jaycee bonus!

We have a few other items on the calendar. This includes the Youth Mental Health First Aid training being held at the VFW Bova Post 9885 on April 30th. This event requires a sign-up. The link for the signup can be found here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d48a8a82da4fd0-youth Please consider signing up and joining us for a day full of learning. You never know when this knowledge might become helpful in the future. There will also be a lunch included for this training.

Speaking of Training! The May Leadership Conference is May 5th – 7th at Shanty Creek! More info can be found here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mijc-may-2017-leadership-conference-tickets-32240914443?aff=efbevent

Are you thinking of participating in one of the competitions during the conference? Are you considering a prepared write-up? Here are some links to help you become more familiar with how to write an essay or how to prepare for a speech! Also, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask questions of myself or anyone on the Programming Team for this years Michigan Board of Directors.

I am very grateful for the many opportunities I have had through my Jaycee Career. For the chance to have met some exceptional people. I look forward to watching some of you take yourself out of your comfort zones and learning some new skills!

While you are hopefully enjoying the sunshine, please take a few moments to reflect on your goals. Spring is the time of new life and new beginnings. Think about your goals. Make a list of steps to achieve them and then get to work! You can do it. I believe in you! Your Chapter is here if you need it.

Also, and how could I forget! Oh, I didn’t! I just saved the best for last!! A very warm WestyWelcome to our new members this week!!

Welcome to Anu Jayakody, Javier Torres and Mike Londeau!

We look forward to getting to know you and helping you become more involved in the chapter and your community! That means it’s time to start planning out next Orientation! Look for that information coming soon. Gotta get the Fire Hydrants Painted first! 😉
